Broadcast journalist, Talk Show Host
Lavonia Perryman is the host of The Lavonia Perryman Show on 910am radio in Detroit and is a political commentator for the Detroit ABC affiliate – WXYZ-TV.
Ms. Perryman also heads a media relations and communications company based in Detroit. Her clients have included the late President Nelson Mandela, Oscar winner Denzel Washington, Dr. Dorothy I. Height and the National Council of Negro Women, the late Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm and Rev. Jesse Jackson and the National Rainbow Push Coalition. She was the Democratic National Committee deputy communications director for President Bill Clinton and President Obama.
She is the recipient of numerous awards including the Detroit’s Women in Radio and Television “Media Woman of the Year” award. Her journalism career was launched at WTVS, Channel 56 and WCAR radio in Detroit. For several years she worked at Howard University’s WHUR radio and WHUT TV. Her illustrious career spans more than 50 years.
